NEWS: Our President Dr Fançois Lacour-Gayet, Professor at the Imperial College of Medicine London, the Royal Brompton Hospital, schedules next mission APRIL 6 to 13 2014
MISSION : save indigent children and young adults with heart diseases in Haiti
URGENT APRIL 2014 : give now to save young Haitian Toussaint, high school teacher of Mathematics
ACHIEVEMENT: 110 children have been cured in partnership with Gift of Life USA and Chaine de l'Espoir France
ACTION: 4 to 5 Surgery Missions a year in Port au Prince at la Clinique Lambert, Training of the Haitian medical team
WHO: children and young adults with heart diseases from birth anomaly or from a sore throat streptococcal infection. These young patients SUFFER and finally dye if not operated, although a "basic" surgery can CURE them for ever
WHY: Haiti has NO cardiac hospital, neither for children nor for adults, meaning thousands of deaths per year. It is sadly a unique situation. Nicaragua, Jamaica, Salvador, Senegal, Mozambique, Cambodia, Uganda, all these countries had local hospitals capable to host the surgery missions and to be gradually modernized with heart centers
GOAL: equip a Haitian hospital with a Heart Center department, in partnership with the Haitian medical academic Communities, contribute to the Global Health Care dynamics with prevention, education in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery

The worldwide Experience of our President and Partners
• Our President François Lacour-Gayet operated with GOLI and CDE in Salvador, Maputo, Dakar, Kabul, and Managua where, as former President of SoH, he built the Heart Center of Managua.
• For 20 years our partners Gift of Life and Chaine de l'Espoir have been successfully implementing heart care programs and cardiac hospitals in Nicaragua, Vietnam, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Salvador,Ethiopia.
" Our responsibility is to bring hope to a new generation in developing countries like Haiti by establishing a high quality of care for their children while promoting education of health professionals in a modern environment.
A child is always and everywhere an emergency. This is why we start with sending surgery missions in a country where there is absolutely no cardiac surgeon and no cardiac department, neither for children nor for adults. But a Surgery mission is just the "pilot" of the story.
Training the Medical Human resources and building a Heart Center are the 2 conditions for a durable success.
I have been operating on Humanitarian surgery missions worldwide and believe that the greatest challenges in fighting diseases of poverty are organizational and managerial. I am committing personally on the establishment of a training program, on the development of a telemedicine network and on the implementation of a prevention program to eradicate rheumatic heart fever in Haiti.
In creating the Haiti Heart Center, we will pave the way toward a sustainable modern medicine.
We wish to have a significant impact on the prevention and cure of heart diseases in Haiti. I thank you for your generous support” François Lacour-Gayet Open Hearts Haiti President
